What it means to be an Adventure Student

       

      Hello, I am Sebastian and I have been in Adventure for 4 years now. It has been quite different from 5th grade and the school has changed a lot. The school has added gates around the school and they repainted the building as well. Some of the rules have changed to like the once a zero and our school saying changed as well. Instead of KRS (kind respectful & safe) now it's RRS (respectful responsible & safe). The projects and work have been more challenging but prepare us for the future. It sometimes may be a lot of work at the same time but it's all worth it at the end because you learn a lot of the certain topic and maybe help you out in the future. I am also really lucky to have amazing teachers that help so much if you are struggling. I have improved so much since 5th grade and you can look at my 6th-grade portfolio to tell the difference.

 

     When I came to Adventure I didn't really know anybody or have any friends except for my cousin who goes here as well. Since 5th grade, I really made great friends and it sort of feels like a 2nd family. It is so easy to meet new people and be such great friends because everybody here is nice to each other. Another reason is being in the class with the same people every day and you grow to know each other so well. Most people support and try to help you as much as they can, I have a couple of friends who push me to do my work and always help me to improve. 

 

     We get much work here that other students may not get. the work we do here always means something to help us improve in a certain topic. The teachers sometimes ask or make us do a quiz to see where we are at and what we need help in. The teachers always explain every project we have well, they usually prepare us for the project before they assign it to us. Our teachers put many efforts into the projects they gave us to make them fun and interesting. We usually have a project that involves collaborating with others and working as a team.

 

     

     Adventure is basically about collaboration and technology. We use technology here almost every day which is different from Herman because they don't get to use as much as technology as we do. Using a lot of technology is good in many ways and can help us in jobs that involve technology. Some people may not even know how things work on a computer because they weren't able to use as much as technology. Technology is also good for coding games as we used Flash to code our games we made in 6th and 7th grade. Overall many students work better using technology and enjoy it more so more students will turn in their work. At first, it's weird using technology often but you will get used to it and like it a lot better. 

 

     Overall I can't believe 8th grade has come to an end. 8th grade went by a flash and I am going to miss all the memories I had here. Many of us will be going to different high schools and it will be pretty tough because I have been with these people for 4 years! I felt like 8th grade was the perfect year for me and it was the most fun out of as the years I have been at Adventure. I also hope I have great teachers in high school as I did in Adventure. It's been a long journey and I'm about to start a new one...
